Dan Jellinek, founder, Headstar
Dan Jellinek is Managing Director and co-founder of Headstar (www.headstar.com), a company pioneering email publishing and online consultation and debate. Headstar's publications include E-Government Bulletin, the leading publication in its sector; and E-Access Bulletin, on access to technology by blind and vision-impaired people.
Dan is also co-founder of VoxPolitics (www.voxpolitics.com), a think-tank set up in 2001 to track the use of the internet and other new technologies in democratic politics. In 2004 he was voted among the top 10 individuals and organisations in the world having the greatest impact on the way the Internet is changing politics, at the Fifth World Forum on e-Democracy in Paris. He is a member of the Scientific Committee of the quarterly European Review of Political Technologies.
Dan is a director of the Sussex Community Internet Project (www.scip.org.uk), a non-profit body helping community groups use computers and the internet; and a member of the Society of IT Management’s ‘Better Connected’ review team, which reviews every UK local authority web site annually.
He is a journalist and publisher with more than 15 years’ experience in technology and government. In his early career he contributed extensively to The Guardian and the BBC’s WebWise campaign to help adult beginners make the most of the internet.
